Swimming pleasantly

In the sediment of Hirose river, various microbes such as diatoms, flagellates, and ciliates are swimming in their own characteristic styles. In particular, a round green organism seems to enjoy spinning until it is caught by a particle and stops moving. It is not clear whether the organism is a flagellate or not.

The round, green organisms spinning in this video is possibly Chlamydomonas, Chloromonas or a member of a related genus.

However, in this video, we cannot clearly examine the cytoplasm and cell surface for the presence or absence of pyrenoids, the number of pyrenoids, the shape of chloroplasts, and location of nuclei, etc.

This makes it difficult to classify the organism with certainty.
